Jeopardy Review

This is a review game using a template for the gameshow Jeopardy (where the answers have to be in the form of a question, although you can choose to ignore that). It can be adapted for any grade level or any chapter, I have attached an example that I have used for my 3rd grade classes but there is also a blank template.

Divide your class into their lunch groups, have them janken to determine who starts. Give each group a whiteboard, marker and eraser (to check spelling and to encourage them to come up with alternative answers).

Explain to your students that they are on a game show.
Choose a team at random to begin and have them select a category. Choose another team at random and have them choose a quesion (they get more difficult as the reward increases). After that point have the winners of each round choose the next category and choose the team that is struggling to select a quesiton.

Show them the quesion and wait 2-3 minutes for each team to come up with an answer (you can play it by ear and wait until all but 2 teams are done and then start a count down). Once the time is up have the teams read out and show you their answers. Some of the default answers are from the textbook (for test review) so encourage students to have alternative answers that are also correct (give half points to answers that are close - e.g. spelling errors, grammar, etc).

If there are multiple correct answers then either reward all teams or have your JTE decide which team had the best answer (if the latter then explain to the students that the most detailed or unique answer is rewarded).

This is a good way to have your students review interview questions and how to answer open ended questions since you are encouraging them to come up with different answers from other teams.
